The challenge of this project was that apparel brands do not tend to fall under the sage archetype. Sage archetypes tend to be companies such as law firms, colleges and universities, and schools, just to name a few. I did research on what kinds of colors and design styles sage archetypes use and landed on the color scheme shown above. I created a custom wordmark for the logo and also created a stand-alone monogram for other uses throughout the brand.

Vestis Apparel

Vestis Apparel was an Archetypes branding project that I did in my Typography class. We were given 2 buckets to draw a piece of paper from: one had 5 brand cliches, the other had 12 brand archetypes. From the buckets, I drew an apparel company and the sage archetype and I was tasked with creating a brand that reflected these two things.

So what is Vestis? Vestis is a high-end apparel company that specializes in men’s suits and formal wear. The sage archetype is all about truth, knowledge, and wisdom, so the branding follows a style that would appeal to customers such as lawyers, professors, and high-class businessmen. In Latin, Vestis means “garment”, which gives the name meaning and authenticity. The brand’s colors, typefaces, logo, and overall feel give the brand a distinguished feel for those who seek excellence and virtue above all else. This campaign is a successful solution to the assignment.
